We've pulled 3x5 cards from a holder my grandma made many years ago, and here are a few of the more commonly used recipes (pictures of the card so you get the gist).

Most often requested...Monkey Bread!

and the original version...

My personal favorite, and this is a loose guideline recipe that can have a gazillion variations, Basil Pesto.

A breakfast favorite, Mema's pancake recipe

Scones are always good, esp. with tons of butter and some good homemade jam!

Sticking with the bread-ish theme, the best French Bread recipe available

Desserts, without which life would be a little less sweet!

And Nate's Chess Pie!

The traditional New Year's Day bean soup from Mema:

Baas was a notorious experimenter, and here are a few examples...all of which I like, none of which anyone else in the family will touch. Not the healthiest fare, for sure :-)

A spooky cocktail for a Hallow'd Eve party

and for a hot summer's outing on the porch

Since none of the above items are healthy, here's one for those who need a light meal. Caesar Salad

Quickie Pulled Pork

Sweet marinade:
    t. Pepper
    t. Salt
    t. Garlic powder
    Tablespoon horseradish
    Tablespoon tamari
    Tablespoon Dijon
    Tablespoon maple syrup

Heat the pan with oil and butter, cook minced garlic, sear each side then simmer for about 10 minutes. Tender, moist, very delicious.

Oh Boy Waffles!

Here is the basic Pancakes recipe we use at our house:

1 1/4 c. flour
2 T. sugar
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking powder
1 egg
1 c. milk
1 T. cooking oil

and for buttermilk pancakes, reduce baking powder to 1 tsp., add 1/2 tsp. baking soda and use 1 1/3 c. buttermilk

I add 2-3 handfuls of blueberries, or a can of pumpkin and more flour.

And the picture from of old...

Wassail - I don't know if that is spelled correctly, but it's how I spell it. And I'm sure I don't make it properly, but it tastes great. For a gallon of apple cider I poke about 30 cloves into an apple and 30 more into an orange, pop them into the cider and slow cook it for a couple of hours. Sometimes I add a cinnamon stick, other times I use the stick as a stirrer. Well, and maybe not 30 cloves, but at least 15 or so! One time I added some rum. Turned out ok, I think.

And other things....
